In the period from 2 July to 16 July 2025, the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry, with the support of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the cantonal governments and cantonal chambers of commerce, held Public Hearings throughout the Federation of BiH on the Draft Law on Gas of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The hearings were held in the following cities: Sarajevo, Orašje, Tuzla, Zenica, Travnik, Bihać, Livno, Mostar, Široki Brijeg and Goražde.
The public hearings attracted a large number of participants from various sectors – experts, representatives of institutions, companies, the academic community and citizens. The hearings took place in a dynamic atmosphere, with active participation and constructive proposals, which clarified many uncertainties and recorded important suggestions.
This is a key document that lays the foundations for the development of a safe, competitive and harmonized gas sector, in line with modern European practices and the energy transition. Minister Vedran Lakić emphasized the importance of involving all interested parties so that the proposals and opinions of experts and citizens are heard, in order for the law to be ultimately drafted in the best possible way.
The Draft Law provides for:
• Development of modern gas infrastructure,
• Supply stability,
• Clear rules for all market participants,
• Alignment with European practices and the goals of the energy transition.
After each hearing, BH-Gas presented key infrastructure projects of gas infrastructure in the Federation of BiH that will further strengthen connectivity with neighboring markets, contribute to safer supply and accelerate the energy transition.
All those who were unable to attend the public hearings may submit their proposals and comments by 2 August 2025.
