Workshops held on “Alignment with EUDR – Regulation on Deforestation and Forest Degradation”

The Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH, in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH and the Chamber of Economy of the Republika Srpska, and with technical support from the Swiss Export Promotion Program (SIPPO), organized expert workshops on the topic “Alignment with EUDR – Regulation on Deforestation and Forest Degradation”.

The workshops were held on 19 November 2025 at JP “Srednjobosanske šume” in Donji Vakuf and on 20 November 2025 at the premises of the Chamber of Economy of FBiH in Mostar.

This expert program was intended for companies from the wood industry and forestry, as well as producers and processors from the agriculture and food industry sectors in Bosnia and Herzegovina – in other words, all actors in the value chain who export their products to the European Union market.

The European Regulation on Deforestation and Forest Degradation – EUDR (EU Regulation 2023/1115) – is a key European Union law aimed at reducing its global contribution to forest loss and degradation. This regulation improves and expands the requirements of the earlier EUTR regulation (995/2010), the application of which in certain segments remains in force until 31 December 2028.

During the workshops, participants had the opportunity to become familiar in detail with:
• the basic requirements of the EUDR and deadlines for compliance,
• obligations from individual parts of the Regulation that directly affect export-oriented companies,
• mechanisms and tools for adapting procurement and production processes in the wood industry and forestry.

The main lecturer was Zoran Tintor, an expert in standardization, international management systems and FSC.

The application of EUDR officially begins on 30 December 2025. All companies registered in the European Union that import, export or trade products covered by the Regulation are obliged to ensure full compliance with its requirements. This means that all suppliers of wood and wood products – including those from Bosnia and Herzegovina – must prove compliance all the way to the original place of origin, i.e. the forest.

For domestic exporters, this means that proof of compliance with EUDR will be necessary before export itself, so that the goods can even be accepted at the border of the European Union.

The aim of these workshops was to provide companies from BiH with timely and practical information on the procedures and obligations imposed by EUDR, and to support them in preparing for and adapting to the new market requirements of the European Union.
