Representatives of companies from the textile industry visited the Fashion Prime, Fashion Tech and Fashion Home fairs held in Turkey, in the city of İzmir. These are textile industry trade fairs organized by the City Administration of İzmir in partnership with İZFAŞ, İZGİ FUARCILIK and DETGİS, in the period from
9 to 11 October 2024.
These are fairs of textile materials and raw materials, clothing, home textiles, as well as manufacturers of machinery, equipment and printing technologies, which aimed to encourage new business connections, establish trade activities and create new partnerships. Visitors’ attention was drawn to the Fashion Tech Fair, where the latest technologies and innovations in clothing and textile machinery of various Turkish brands were presented. What is noticeable through conversations with representatives of machinery and equipment manufacturers is that the textile industry is going through a very challenging period everywhere in the world, and that the necessary transition of this sector is being felt by a large number of manufacturers. That the textile industry in BiH is also facing numerous challenges and difficulties is shown by official data on BiH exports and the fact that in the first eight months of 2024, exports of leather, textiles and textile products amounted to 1.096 billion KM and were 11.9% lower compared to the same period last year. The sector is also recording a decline in production, and thus a decline in the number of employees. Strategic action is of great importance for creating a more favorable business environment, supporting the sector’s transition and finding new business opportunities. Therefore, the adoption of the Strategy for the Development of the Textile, Clothing, Leather and Footwear Industry in the Federation of BiH for the period 2024-2033 is significant, and its preparation was led by the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry in cooperation with the Chamber of Economy of FBiH, with the support of UNDP.
The visit was realized with the technical support of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH and IZFAS, and the delegation consisted of representatives from the Bosnian companies Bontex doo Maglaj, Komas Komerc doo Sarajevo, Alma Ras doo Olovo, Catwalk doo Sarajevo, Empress doo Zenica, Koteks doo Tesanj, Sinmax doo Sarajevo.
