2nd SECW OPENED: 19 panels, 10 workshops, 200 international experts and over 1,000 participants

On Monday, 23 September 2024, the 2nd Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week (SECW) was officially opened at Hotel Hills, and will last until 27 September, organized by the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Chamber of Economy/Commerce and with the support of partners. This year’s SECW is organized under the high patronage of the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Dr. Denis Bećirović, who stated that such events are extremely important for the sustainable future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This important energy and climate event brought together numerous experts from different sectors to discuss, over five days, 19 panels and 10 accompanying workshops, events and meetings, concrete steps that need to be taken in the fields of energy and climate with a focus on energy and just transition, upcoming taxes through CBAM, ETS, as well as critical mineral raw materials.

The President of the Federation of BiH Chamber of Economy/Commerce, Mirsad Jašarspahić, emphasized that this year marks exactly 100 years since the first World Energy Congress in London, on whose foundations a joint and integrated approach to global issues and challenges in the domains of energy stability and climate sustainability has been developed over all the following years.

„We managed to bring together a broad spectrum of participants thanks to the effect achieved last year in business and professional circles, cooperation with relevant institutions and organizations, and the inclusion of key actors from the public, business and civil sectors,“ says the President of P/G K FBiH, Mirsad Jašarspahić.

The event brings together more than 200 international experts and representatives of governments, industry, civil society and the academic community, making SECW an indispensable event for all those who want to contribute to the climate and energy future of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. This year, SECW brought together a wide range of companies, institutions and individuals from BiH, the region, the EU, the wider European area and countries of the Middle East.
