Ten days to SECW, the largest regional energy and climate event

The third Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week (SECW 2025), over ten days through five thematic conference days, will make Sarajevo the epicenter of discussions dedicated to energy and climate change topics. The organizer of this prestigious international gathering is the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Chamber of Economy/Commerce, while the event is under the high patronage of the member of the Presidency of BiH, Dr. Denis Bećirović.

SECW 2025 is being implemented with the leading partnership of the European Union, and significant support is also provided by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, the Vice President of the Federation of BiH Igor Stojanović, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry of the Federation of BiH, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of the Federation of BiH, the Government of the Brčko District of BiH, the Government of Sarajevo Canton, the City of Sarajevo, the City of Mostar and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sarajevo.

In addition to the mentioned institutions, support also comes from numerous international and domestic partners: EU4Energy, a project funded by the European Union, the World Energy Council (WEC), the Energy Community Secretariat, GIZ, UNDP, UNEP, the World Bank (WB), CCAC, the European Investment Bank (EIB), KfW, EBRD, IFC, Caritas BiH, PIN, Raiffeisen Bank, Elektroprivreda BiH and HZHB, as well as the energy exchanges NORD POOL and BSP Energy Exchange LLC, with the contribution of other significant organizations.

The gold partner of SECW 2025 is Energoinvest. Energoinvest is a recognizable symbol of long-standing tradition, a BiH brand with more than 70 years of existence, a company that laid the foundations for the development of energy infrastructure not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also beyond. Energoinvest is synonymous with trust, quality and responsibility, and prides itself on its role in shaping the energy and infrastructure future.

This year as well, SECW 2025 enjoys significant support from the embassies of the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway and Germany. The event will bring together leading experts in the fields of energy and climate issues, not only from the region of Southeast Europe and the European Union, but also from America, Canada, Qatar and numerous other countries around the world.

To our great satisfaction, the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) will gladly participate in this year’s Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week (SECW 2025). SEI representatives will take part in several panel discussions, and they will also organize their own side event.

The side event, dedicated to the project „Sustainable Transition of BiH“ (BiH SuTra), will be held on 23 September at 10:00 at Hotel Hills Ilidža. On that occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed with new local self-government units joining the project, and the latest results of cooperation with existing partners as well as plans for the coming period will be presented.

„We are pleased that more and more local partners are joining the BiH SuTra project. This shows how important the involvement of local communities is, because they are the first to be hit by climate change, but also key in mobilizing people and initiating change,“ said Saša Solujić, project manager of BiH SuTra.

Particular satisfaction is also the arrival of the Executive Director of SEI, Måns Nilsson, who will participate in the panel discussion „Climate Challenges and the Future of the Energy Sector in BiH“ on the first day of the conference. Nilsson will share his expert knowledge with participants and offer key insights into how the energy transition can become a reality in this region.

We proudly point out that the City of Mostar is the strategic partner of the SECW conference, confirming its leading role in the energy transition and sustainable development.

The City of Mostar is a leader and motivator of the energy transition and sustainable changes in BiH, actively participating in projects of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources.

Through initiatives to improve energy efficiency in public buildings, schools, kindergartens, health centers and public lighting, the City of Mostar reduces costs and emissions of harmful gases, and contributes to a greener and more sustainable future. In addition, the City of Mostar promotes the use of renewable energy sources, while citizen energy projects enable local communities to actively participate in reducing the carbon footprint and shaping the energy transition. Cities are places where changes arise and are shaped, which is precisely why the City of Mostar recognized the importance of taking a leading role in the energy transition, opening space for new partnerships, innovations and citizen involvement.

Through panel discussions, presentations, workshops and accompanying events, SECW represents a significant gathering that will enable participants to connect and cooperate with decision-makers, representatives of international organizations, the business sector, the academic community, investors and civil society.
