The Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of BiH invites all interested parties to attend the workshop on
the topic “Best practices from EU policies and strategies to achieve a sustainable Blue Economy:
what is the path for Bosnia and Herzegovina?”, which will be organized in Sarajevo on 10 October
2024, starting at 10:00, Hotel Holliday.

The project ;TRUE BLUE – CEI support for training and research to advance the potential of a sustainable
BLUE economy for regional cooperation and integration into the EU;, is led by the National Institute for
Oceanography and Applied Geophysics – OGS, based in Trieste, Italy, and co-financed by the
Central European Initiative through the KEP (Know-How Exchange Program) instrument, with support from
the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The TRUE BLUE project aims to advance scientific diplomacy through capacity-building activities for
knowledge transfer to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania in order to support their
progress toward EU integration, promoting regional cooperation. The project activities correspond to the common and specific needs of these countries in terms of knowledge transfer
on sustainable blue economy, a field in which Italy, Croatia, and Slovenia show strong
rooted experience.

The project „ASAP – Protection of Sensitive Areas of the Adriatic – mechanism“, co-financed by
the Interreg IPA ADRION program, aims to transfer knowledge and best practices from the Northern
Adriatic to the entire Adriatic basin.

The goal of the ASAP project is to improve protection of the sea from pollutant spills, especially in large-scale accidents that cannot be managed by a single country. The Central European Initiative – Executive
Secretariat coordinates a multi-level consortium of partners from six Adriatic countries (Albania,
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Montenegro and Slovenia): Together they will develop common
intervention rules for a joint response, with a strong focus on facilitating
transnational communication in the event of accidents. First-line responders will be included in the training
program, and two exercises have been organized to test the mechanism both in the Northern Adriatic and
in the Southern Adriatic. By the end of the project, a roadmap for establishing a permanent
coordination platform (PCP) for the protection of the Adriatic Sea will be finalized.
