Electricity on the road to Sjenica: Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the service of sustainable mobility at the Balkan Green Summit

At this year’s Balkan Green Summit, held in Sjenica, Star Import d.o.o., the general distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles for the markets of Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania, together with the Biševac car dealership, actively participated in promoting sustainable mobility and innovation in the automotive industry.

As the sponsor of the panel “Electricity on the road: a fast, safe and accessible charging network”, Star Import supported an open dialogue on the development of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in the region, emphasizing the importance of availability and reliability of charging stations for a larger number of electric vehicles and their presence on the roads.

The panel brought together experts from the region in the field of electromobility and the automotive industry, namely:

– Miloš Kapisoda, Star Import, authorized Mercedes-Benz representative, Belgrade
– Jelena S. Benić, Orion emobility, Belgrade
– Ignac Završnik, Mobility Association, Slovenia

– Filip Mitrović, 360 mobility, Belgrade
– Zorana Đorić, Vozim na struju, Belgrade
– Josip Šarić, Etiris, BiH
– Armin Durmišević, E387, BiH

In a dynamic panel discussion moderated by Anela Karahasan, secretary of the Association for Electromobility at the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH, the panelists shared their experiences and the challenges they face on a daily basis when driving and charging electric vehicles.

In addition to the challenges and experiences, the panelists also emphasized electromobility as an exceptional business opportunity, but one that requires joint and stronger cooperation with decision-makers.

Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles, as well as vehicles with internal combustion engines, were presented, enabling visitors to closely familiarize themselves with the differences in vehicles and technologies shaping the future of mobility.

Special emphasis was placed on the possibility of test driving electric models, which aroused great interest among the visitors present in Sjenica.

Additional attention was drawn by the prize draw at the end of the panel, in which two randomly selected audience members won an exclusive prize – a one-hour test drive in a Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle, making the event exciting and interactive.

In order to overcome prejudices about driving electric vehicles, the panelists themselves demonstrated this by arriving at the event in Sjenica in electric vehicles, so that ultimately, during the three days of the event, electric vehicles from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Slovenia were visible in Sjenica.

This once again confirmed the previous message: electric vehicles are not the future, but the present, and they have arrived in Sjenica.

The key message of the panel is the necessity of building a fast, accessible, reliable and energy-sustainable infrastructure for charging electric vehicles, as the foundation for the future of mobility and the decarbonization of transport.

Through such initiatives, the Association for Electromobility and its members continue to work dedicatedly on promoting electric mobility, with the aim of bringing innovative solutions closer to the general public and supporting a sustainable future in the region.

On behalf of the Association for Electromobility, we extend our exceptional gratitude to all our partners and members for their response, especially to Star Import d.o.o. and the Biševac car dealership.
