Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH at the Plast EURASIA 2024 fair

Representatives of companies from the chemical and plastics industries, organized by the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH and the Association of the Chemical Industry and Plastics Industry, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, attended the Plast Eurasia 2024 fair, held from 04-07.12.2024 in Istanbul.

This is the largest fair for the plastics industry held in Europe. The fair is an ideal opportunity to establish contacts with manufacturers of equipment and machines for: plastic injection molding, crushing, extruders, injection molds, bag-making machines and other equipment, as well as raw materials: granulates, pigments, paints, chemicals, adhesives, additives and similar.

In line with the challenges facing the industry, special attention from exhibitors was devoted to innovation, recycling and the production of regranulates. Due to the diverse offer presented, the fair is very interesting for BiH companies, which largely import raw materials and production machinery from Turkey.

At the stand of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH, the following companies took part in the business delegation: Life Oil-PJ Life plast d.o.o., Jusri d.o.o., Koala Paintigs d.o.o., LB.Profile BH d.o.o., Koala Automotive d.o.o. and Tisa Komerc d.o.o.

As a member of the Mediterranean Advisory Board of Plastic Europe, the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH is committed to monitoring and contributing to the implementation of common goals for easier transition. Therefore, following news regarding innovative solutions, technologies and raw materials is of great importance for companies from this sector. According to the latest published report by Plastics Europe, which brings together companies that produce more than 90% of all polymers in Europe, 54 million tons of non-recycled plastic were produced, with a recorded decline of 8.3% compared to 2022, while production of recycled plastic amounted to 7.1 million tons, with a recorded decline of 7.8%. The main reason for this decline is the sharp increase in polymer imports from Asia, where environmental standards are less strict, or from the USA, where energy prices are more favorable compared to the EU. It is important to note that in 2023 Europe became a net importer of polyester resin by volume for the first time in 2022 and certain finished plastic products, but it still retained the leading position with the largest share of circular plastic.

These data precisely speak to the turbulence taking place in all industrial production, including the plastics industry, and therefore it is of great importance for companies to find new market opportunities, work on strengthening competitiveness, and receive support in the transition process.
