SARAJEVO, 31 May – At the conference titled “Media as a Communicator of Economic Policies” held in Sarajevo, the importance of synergy between the economy, the real sector, decision-makers and the media was emphasized in order to strengthen the competitiveness and visibility of domestic products.

Organized by the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH, the conference brought together representatives of the government sector, the real sector, the media and the Chamber.

The Vice President of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH, Marko Šantić, stated that the conference was held with the aim of better positioning and recognition of domestic products, which is especially important given BiH’s progress toward the European Union single market.

The conference included three key panels: ”Strategic Communication of Economic Policies”, ”The Real Sector in the Media Labyrinth”, and ”Consumer Ethnocentrism and the Media”.

The conclusions of the conference will serve as guidelines for all actors in the media space, Šantić emphasized.

Speaking about the panel “Strategic Communication of Economic Policies,” Šantić stressed the need to recognize and place positive news from the domestic economy, which requires training journalists to identify such topics.

In the panel “The Real Sector in the Media Labyrinth,” representatives of the real sector expressed satisfaction with cooperation with the media, proposing an active role for the media in creating news in order to strengthen the domestic economy.

The preparation of an economic handbook for journalists was proposed in order to improve the shaping and placement of economic news.

Referring to the third panel ”Consumer Ethnocentrism and the Media,” Šantić pointed to the campaign and awarding of labels such as ”Original Domestic” and ”BH Quality”, which have been protected at the Institute for Intellectual Property of BiH, and which will highlight the importance of promoting domestic products.

At the same time, in order to further strengthen this segment, it is important to nurture a synergistic approach of the media, the real sector, the Chamber of Economy and the authorities with the aim of creating a better business environment.

Šantić concluded that the Chamber of Economy will continue organizing such conferences in cooperation with the government and real sectors, the academic community and the media, with the aim of promoting economic policies in an accessible way.

The conference was supported by the Federal Ministry of Development, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, co-organized by the Financial-Information Agency (FIA), while the media sponsors were FENA, Dnevni avaz and Večernji list.
