INTERVET WB

Full project title: Internationalization of the VET system in the countries of the Western Balkans (INTERVET WB)

The aim of the INTERVET Western Balkans project is to open new opportunities for mobility within the educational process in vocational education centers, as well as to contribute to the development of a mobility culture in the field of vocational education. The INTERVET WB project will enable vocational education institutions in EU countries to establish exchange programmes for students and staff with schools and vocational education and training centers in the Western Balkans and Turkey.

To achieve this, the project foresees activities at two levels: mobility of vocational school students and capacity building of teaching staff in vocational education. The project will provide participants with better access to resources related to international exchanges for training purposes, and provide information on existing opportunities.

The project consortium consists of associations, SMEs, vocational education centers, chambers of commerce, and one university, from 6 regional partners: Albania, BiH, Kosovo, Montenegro, the Republic of North Macedonia, and Serbia, and 8 partners from EU countries: Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Malta, Spain, Slovenia, and Poland. The project leaders are Uniser Società Cooperativa Sociale Onlus, Italy and Da Vinci College, the Netherlands. IUS / IUS Center for Lifelong Learning is the partner institution from BiH, while the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the co-partner.

Students and teachers from across the Balkans will participate in this three-year project. Project activities include:

– 56 PRO-type exchanges lasting 3 months (for students who have just graduated or are doing internships)
– 360 exchanges lasting one month (for students of secondary vocational schools)
– 54 “job shadowing” internships (for teachers and heads of vocational schools)
– participation in summer schools for 36 vocational school teachers
– participation in thematic sessions for 72 teachers and heads of vocational education schools

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the implementation of the INTERVET WB project has been adapted to online platforms, and the mobility of students and teaching staff will take place in accordance with the current epidemiological measures of all countries participating in the project.

INTERVET WB is co-financed by the ERASMUS+ programme of the European Union, with a budget of 2,000,000 EUR. The project implementation began in January 2020 and will last a total of 42 months, until June 2023.
