KJP ”Sarajevo-šume” d.o.o. Sarajevo organized, in the period from 22 to 24.11.2023, at
Igman, a Conference on biomass, integral forest protection and the introduction of environmentally
friendly technologies in forest exploitation. The conference was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Economy
of Sarajevo Canton.
The thematic conference consisted of three segments, divided into three days, with pre-planned
thematic units and an emphasis on the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies in
forest exploitation.
At the opening of the conference, the participants were addressed by the Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton,
Mr. Zlatko Mijatović, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Ahmet
Lojo, and the director of KJP “Sarajevo-šume“ d.o.o. Sarajevo, Mr. Samir Omerović.
During the first day of the conference, presentations were held on topics related to wood processing,
forest protection, the potential use and production of biomass, the application of biomass in boilers and roundwood.
During the second day of the Conference, participants had the opportunity to see and hear a presentation by colleagues from
Austria about their activities, the application of environmentally friendly technology in forest exploitation,
and its advantages and possibilities. The presentation was led by Ehrenhöfer Willibald,
a representative of MM Forsttechnik GmbH. Thanks to MM Forsttechnik GmbH, the practical use of the Synco Falce cable crane and forest chipper was demonstrated in the field. The representative
of Jasmin M d.o.o., Mr. Jasmin Malićbegović, presented the work of this Bosnian company,
which also demonstrated the operation of a harvester and forwarder. A presentation on this
day was also held by the Austrian company TCS Umwelttechnik GmbH, which provided significant
support to the event. In department 83, GJ “Igman“, ŠGP “Igmansko“ the field part of
the conference was organized, where participants had the opportunity to see the practical use of environmentally friendly
technologies in forest exploitation. At the end of the second conference day, a
panel discussion was also held in which opinions and experiences of representatives of forest management companies from Bosnia and
Herzegovina and neighboring Serbia were presented.
The third, final day of the conference was dedicated to issues of amendments to the legal framework and regulations
from the aspect of introducing environmentally friendly technologies in forest exploitation. The participants were presented with this
topic by Prof. Dr. Mersudin Avdibegović.
At the end of the conference, the director of KJP “Sarajevo-šume“ d.o.o. Sarajevo presented the conclusions adopted by the
conference participants, which emphasized the need to harmonize relevant legal
acts and regulations, introduce new, environmentally friendly technologies and technological processes, prepare
a quality spatial plan for logging, educate engineers, and highlighted the capacity for regional
cooperation in this field, the strategic nature of the forestry sector in the context of investments and initiatives to
organize this thematic conference on an annual basis.
The conference was attended by representatives of forest management companies from all over BiH, companies from
BiH, Croatia, Serbia and Austria, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, federal and cantonal
forest administrations and inspection services, relevant ministries, the Faculties of Forestry and Mechanical Engineering of UNSA, the University of Zagreb, the Secondary School for Environment and Wood Design and
the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH.
