Within the project TEF (Tourism Education Future), whose partner is the IUS Center for Lifelong Learning – IUS Life, together with institutions from 7 EU member states, a gastronomic skills competition was held in Fatima, Portugal.
The competition, called TEF Blended Skills Competition, began in early November in an online format, and the final competition was held from 13/11 to 16/11/2023, organized by the host institution Insignare, Qurem, Portugal. Students from the Hospitality and Tourism School in Sarajevo, Elma Hodžić, Ajdin Mešinović and Kemal Velić, together with their mentor Haris Bidžević, were members of transnational competition teams with students from Italy and Portugal. During the online part of the competition, the student competitors presented their national and regional cuisines through an interactive approach.
The theme of the final competition was Mediterranean cuisine, and one of the main evaluation criteria, in addition to the taste of the dishes and creativity, was waste reduction during meal preparation.
First place was won by Ajdin Mešinović’s team for the vegetarian appetizer The Smell of Autumn, second place was won by Elma Hodžić’s team with the dessert Canolli Candel of Fatima, and third place was won by Kemal Velić’s team with the main course Better Chefs chicken roll.

This competition was another opportunity to present our culinary tradition in the best possible way.
