Mechanism of cross-border adjustment

of carbon dioxide emissions (CBAM) and its impact on business

Tuesday, 21/10/2025 in Sarajevo

(Branislava Đurđeva St. No. 10, ground floor, Hall 1)

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a European Union (EU) tool to support the EU’s ambition to achieve a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of at least 55% by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest. CBAM is a mechanism for introducing a price on carbon dioxide emissions generated during the production of energy-intensive products from fossil fuels that are exported to the EU. Regulation (EU) 2023/956, among other things, prescribes reporting obligations on emissions during the transitional period from 1 October 2023 to 31 December 2025. From 1 January 2026, CBAM will be applied in full, which, among other things, means payment for emissions generated during the production of so-called CBAM products.

The main objective of this training is to familiarize participants with the basics and legal framework of CBAM, its implications for the business operations of companies in BiH, and the obligations arising for exporters and importers of CBAM products in the EU. Also, a key intention of the training is to define strategic and managerial decisions that need to be made in order to minimize business risk and increase the company’s competitiveness. In addition, the training aims to present the advantages of introducing a mechanism for paying carbon dioxide emissions in BiH, with the goal that the money from emission payments remains in BiH and is used for the accelerated and managed decarbonization of the BiH economy.

The training results are reflected in understanding the basic principles of CBAM, its legal framework and the expected effects on the business operations of foreign and domestic companies, through assessing risks for companies and recognizing opportunities for adaptation and decarbonization of operations, as well as improving the company’s competitiveness.

Participation fee: 190 KM including VAT (information needed for payment of the participation fee will be provided after the application deadline expires).

Note: For certified participants of the training of members of supervisory boards and management boards of companies with state capital participation, this seminar is recognized as additional training which they are required to attend once a year for the purpose of continuous education, in accordance with Article 7 of the Regulation on the training of presidents and members of supervisory boards and management boards of companies with state capital participation and point IX of the Training Program.
