As a continuation of the meetings held in Belgrade, Budapest and Lagos, yesterday we had a very productive meeting in Sarajevo, attended by representatives of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Central Eastern European and West African Business Association (CEEWABA), the Embassy of Nigeria in Budapest, the Nigeria-Balkan Business Hub (NBBH) and representatives of several Bosnian companies. This remarkable event brought together company leaders to encourage international cooperation and explore new business opportunities between Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the early morning hours we visited AS Holding, where our hosts were Sanel Celjo and Senaida Tabić, both from the procurement department of AS Holding. They introduced us to the organizational structure of AS Holding, its production program, export markets and production needs. On that occasion, CEEWABA representative Michael A. DADA and his associates introduced us to the numerous opportunities Nigeria offers, and we also had a presentation of some of the spices that are produced only in Nigeria and distributed around the world.
Later, we continued our business trip at the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with representatives of numerous Bosnian companies. During the talks at the Chamber, the representative of the Embassy of Nigeria, H.E. Zainab Zakari-Awami, introduced us to new opportunities and possibilities for trade with Nigeria and West Africa. We also discussed the challenges and logistical obstacles that often affect cross-border transactions, and our conversation yielded practical advice and strategies for overcoming them, along with the presentation of best practices.
Nigeria offers great opportunities for import and export, especially in sectors such as spices, agricultural products, textile and automotive industries, real estate, construction and engineering. Understanding the unique dynamics of doing business in Nigeria is key to entering this market, and one of the conclusions of the meeting was that we should actively work on creating simplified pathways for connecting and growing companies on both sides.
And finally, the West African region includes, in addition to Nigeria, which is also the largest and most populous country in all of Africa, 17 neighboring countries and covers a market of more than 450 million inhabitants. The West African region is also a part of Africa that is called the giant or the key to Africa because of the potential it offers.
