The Gender Equality Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, and the United Nations agency for gender equality and women’s empowerment – UN Women have recognized and honored the Chamber of Commerce of the FBiH with an award for being an outstanding responsible actor in the Generation Equality campaign.
The central event of the Generation Equality campaign in BiH took place on 7 March 2024 and has special significance because it was held during the celebration of International Women’s Day, thereby emphasizing the vital role of champions and change-makers in advancing progress in gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
The award was received by the President of the Chamber of Commerce of the FBiH, Mr. Mirsad Jašarspahić: “The Chamber of Commerce of the FBiH is a responsible partner, advocate and driver of changes in the business environment based on zero tolerance for mobbing, harassment and sexual harassment in the workplace, and we demand the same from all employees and business partners.”
The event celebrated and recognized the contribution of institutions, organizations and companies from across BiH that have committed to achieving transformative results for women and girls through advocacy, funding, programmatic and policy commitments and actions.
The plaque presenters for the Action Coalitions were:
• Action Coalition for Bodily Autonomy and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights – John Kennedy Mostoti, UNFPA representative in BiH
• Coalition for Climate and Gender – Narine Sahakyan, Acting UNDP Representative in BiH
• Action Coalition Against Gender-Based Violence – Adebayo Babajide, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation in BiH
• Action Coalition for Economic Justice and Rights – Ingrid Macdonald, UN Resident Coordinator in BiH
• Action Coalition for Feminist Movements and Leadership – Jo-Anne Bishop, UN Women representative in BiH

The Generation Equality campaign, an intergenerational global initiative, brings together change-makers who were key to creating the Beijing Platform for Action and young generations of activists and visionaries to jointly complete the unfinished work of ensuring that gender equality becomes a reality for women and girls around the world.
Globally, 126 countries have taken on 2,800 commitments related to gender equality.
