Within the USAID Diaspora Invest project, in the premises of the Chamber of Economy
of FBiH, last week an info session was held for companies from the construction sector that already export their
products, semi-products, goods or services to the EU market or have the potential to
become exporters to that market.
The USAID Diaspora Invest project is implemented in cooperation with the Chamber of Economy
of FBiH, the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH and the Chamber of Economy of RS. The project aims to
enable companies from BiH to enter new EU markets, to better position themselves in existing
markets, and to help companies that have export potential but face certain
barriers overcome those barriers and facilitate entry into the EU market.
During the presentation, attendees received information about the construction sector market in Austria,
its potential and characteristics, opportunities for cooperation, and generally how to
present themselves on the international market, what information to share and where to research potential opportunities and partners. The lecture was delivered by Jasmin Mulahasanović, export consultant on the USAID
Diaspora Invest project.
After the presentation, an interactive discussion followed, where the attending companies outlined
the challenges they face on the international market in the construction sector, with special
focus on the specifics of the Austrian market.
It was emphasized that the Austrian market has exceptional potential for Bosnian and Herzegovinian companies,
primarily because of proximity, and then because of the references and quality of Bosnian and Herzegovinian companies, but
that the specifics of the legal regulation for the Austrian market prevent this. In this regard, those present agreed that the involvement and action of the competent institutions is necessary in order to enable
the strengthening of the export competitiveness of Bosnian and Herzegovinian companies, that is, to enable
construction companies to work in Austria on the model of the work of BiH companies in Germany.
One of the conclusions of the held info session is also the need to strengthen domestic companies, strengthen
domestic resources through the transfer of knowledge and experience, and in line with that the implementation of
the USAID Diaspora Invest project was welcomed, which precisely connects Bosnian and Herzegovinian companies with
the Diaspora in terms of strengthening competencies, transferring knowledge and good practices.
After the info session, and according to the project activities, one-on-one consultations followed
with 4 registered and selected companies from BiH.
