The Chamber of Economy/Commerce of the Federation of BiH, in cooperation with the Agency for Enterprise Development – Eda, Banja Luka (Eda Agency), organized a free one-day training on public procurement on 19.11.2024, with the aim of improving women’s entrepreneurship in Bosnia and Herzegovina by increasing the participation of women entrepreneurs and women in business in public procurement processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The training was symbolically organized on 19 November – International Women Entrepreneurs Day, in order to draw attention to the insufficient participation of women in public procurement processes.
Along with the already insufficient participation of women in the labor market and their unequal position, women-owned business entities also face the challenge of insufficient representation in public procurement processes. Companies owned by women make up approx. 30% of suppliers contracted by local governments.
Public procurement represents a significant economic opportunity that could greatly empower women entrepreneurs and women-owned business entities if approached fairly. Experiences from many countries show that public procurement can help reduce the gender gap by giving women more opportunities to engage in business with government representatives.
The training was aimed at improving practical skills and focused on the real skills necessary for creating competitive bids in public procurement procedures.
Due to increased interest in this training, the Chamber of Economy/Commerce and the EDA Agency are organizing it again on 27.11.2024, and applications can be submitted via ⇒ the link by 25.11.2024.
By symbolically marking International Women Entrepreneurs Day through the advancement of the skills of women entrepreneurs and women-owned business entities, the Chamber of Economy/Commerce of the Federation of BiH joined the United Nations in a global movement that highlights the importance of women and their not only significant, but also inspiring role in society and the economy, while also drawing attention to the numerous challenges and obstacles that women entrepreneurs and women in business face every day.
