The leadership of the Engineering Chamber of the Federation of BiH, headed by President prof. dr. Sanela Klarić and Vice President prof. dr. Edvin Škaljo, held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Nermin Nikšić on 13.09.2023. The Prime Minister was presented with the work of the Engineering Chamber from its establishment to the present day. He was informed about the fourteen established core sections of engineers and nearly one thousand engineers who are members of the Chamber. The Engineering Chamber of the Federation of BiH made all its resources available to the Prime Minister and the Government of the Federation of BiH, first and foremost expert advisory support in the EU integration process, support for projects and activities led by the Government of the Federation of BiH. Prime Minister Nikšić expressed satisfaction with the existence of an organization that brings together a large number of experts and gladly accepted that the Engineering Chamber of the Federation, together with engineers, participate in the future resolution of important issues.
The meeting also discussed the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Spatial Planning and Land Use at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is on the agenda of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH. President Klarić presented the position of the Engineering Chamber of the Federation of BiH that the formation of the Chamber of Engineers in Construction of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as envisaged in the Draft Law, will not regulate the field in a manner aligned with European standards, but will further fragment the engineering profession. Members of the Engineering Chamber had previously reacted several times regarding the proposed text of the Law, and they believe it can be improved at this stage, and as a way to find a comprehensive solution, they propose creating a legal framework for a Chamber that will not be an end in itself and that will provide an answer to modern challenges. The Engineering Chamber of the Federation of BiH proposes to the Government of the Federation of BiH to undertake activities and support the initiative to adopt the Law on the Engineering Chamber of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to ensure the development, training and networking of several thousand engineers in the Federation of BiH according to the best EU practices. Prime Minister Nikšić and the leadership of the Engineering Chamber of the Federation of BiH agreed on a common position in order to find a solution to the stated issue and arrive at the best solution for all engineers in the Federation of BiH.
