On March 7, 2024, within the 1FUTURE project at the College “CEPS – Center for Business Studies” Kiseljak, the Knowledge Center for Climate and Sustainability (KHCS) was officially opened.
The center’s basic mission is to encourage a culture of interdisciplinary cooperation between researchers, faculties, students and interested members of the local community in order to jointly face the complex challenges of sustainability and climate change through research, educational and incentive initiatives.
On that occasion, the head of the Traffic study program, Dr. Nermin Palić, gave a presentation and introduced those present to the purpose, mission, vision and goals of the center. He presented the valuable equipment donated within the 1FUTURE project, which will be available to all interested parties, including students, professors, workshop and seminar participants, and others. The equipment will also be used within certain educational programs and workshops planned as part of this project.
On behalf of the local partner of the 1FUTURE project, the Chamber of Economy/Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Mirsad Jašarspahić, President of the Chamber, attended this event.
President Jašarspahić and Professor Palić, on behalf of the director of CEPS, signed the Agreement on scientific, research and professional cooperation and thus in the best way implemented the basic goal of the Project, which is reflected in connecting the economy and the academic community.
The CEPS College and the Chamber of Economy/Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with 20 other partners from EU and Western Balkan countries, through this project supported by the European Union, strive through a holistic approach to climate and sustainability activities to improve regional capacities in the implementation of Green Deal goals within the higher education system, encouraging action towards the environment, climate change, sustainability and resilience.
In addition to opening the center, the Project also aims to improve study programs by introducing new subjects or modifying existing ones with a focus on sustainability and the impact on climate change.
The doors of the Knowledge Center for Climate and Sustainability (KHCS) are open to all interested students, professors, external associates, alumni, as well as all stakeholders from the local community and beyond.
