EARTH DAY MARKED AT THE FACULTY OF SCIENCE IN SARAJEVO

Organized by the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH and the Faculty of Science of the University of Sarajevo, Earth Day was marked yesterday with a suitable program, bringing together representatives of the academic community, business, media and young innovators with the aim of promoting sustainable development and environmental awareness in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The program was opened by introductory addresses by the dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Nusret Drešković, and Mirsad Jašarspahić, vice president of the Chamber of Economy of FBiH, who emphasized the importance of joint action in preserving the environment and advancing the green transition.

Special attention of those present was drawn by the presentation “Biodesign” presented by Maja Halilović, highlighting the potential of nature-inspired solutions in modern design and sustainable production.

As part of the event, the project BuildSkills Academy was also presented, which aims to improve knowledge and skills in the construction sector, with a focus on energy efficiency and green building.

Two significant panels were also held:

Panel I: Circle of Responsibility – How media, companies and the academic community build a sustainable BiH, brought together prominent experts including Almir Bajtarević (Heidelberg Materials), Prof. Dr. Nusret Drešković (Faculty of Science), Almasa Bajrić (Business Magazin), Ines Amitović (ProCredit Bank), Jasmin Čengić (Porsche BH) and Jasmina Džaferović (Elektroprivreda BiH), and was moderated by Sendžana Muslić (Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH).

The discussion opened key questions about the role of individual sectors in the process of ecological transformation of society.

Panel II: Sustainable development and ecology in the business of system operators and utility companies brought together representatives Elma Babić Džihanić (ZEOS eco-system), Samir Memić (Standarda Konjic), Remzija Avdibegović (KJKP RAD), Jasmina Zejnilagić (Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH) and Prof. Dr. Samir Đug (Faculty of Science), and was moderated by Almin Mališević (Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH). Participants spoke about current challenges and good practices in environmentally responsible business.

As part of the event, an exhibition of electric cars was also held, where models from Porsche BH were presented, as well as an innovative electric charger from the young domestic company E387, which is an indicator of the potential of domestic industry in the development of green technology.
