Successfully Held the First CBAM Conference in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of BiH, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Development, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, in cooperation with GIZ BiH, and with financial support from the European Union (EU) and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ), as well as in partnership with UNDP BiH, organized the first CBAM conference with a workshop in BiH.
Great Interest from the Domestic Economy
More than 120 participants – representatives of institutions, business entities, international organizations, the academic community, and industry – attended the conference.
The large hall of the Chamber was filled to the last seat, confirming the strong interest of the domestic economy in this important topic.
Key Messages on Decarbonization and the CBAM Mechanism
During the event, domestic and international experts presented the latest information on the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), its implications for industry, and the opportunities opened up by the decarbonization process.
Particular attention was drawn to the presentation by Mr. Marcel Duitse, director of the company Duits and the International CBAM Association, who, through an engaging lecture and discussion with participants, brought CBAM closer from the perspective of the European Union.
Workshop – Concrete Examples from Practice
In the workshop part of the conference, participants worked on preparing examples of CBAM reports using real data from domestic companies.
This practical approach enabled them to better understand the obligations and opportunities brought by the new regulation.
A Step Toward Preparation for 2026
It was agreed that similar workshops and trainings will continue to be organized in the coming period, in order to enable BiH companies to make timely preparations for the full implementation of the CBAM regulation from 2026.
