Seminar “Intellectual Property for Business Entities” held in Sarajevo

Sarajevo, 31 July 2023 – Today in Sarajevo, organized by the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the project “EU support to intellectual property rights in BiH”, funded by the European Union, the seminar “Intellectual Property for Business Entities” was held. This is the first in a series of seminars that the Institute, in cooperation with chambers of economy, will hold free of charge for business entities, business support organizations, as well as all those professionally interested in this issue in the coming period.

Intellectual property is “intangible” property, but very often also the most valuable asset of a company, which needs to be continuously improved, but also legally protected from potential misuse. Bearing in mind the importance of intellectual property in today’s business environment as well as the need to raise awareness of the importance of its protection, the seminar presented thematic units related to patents, trademarks and industrial design, as well as the pre-diagnostic intellectual property service, which the Institute for Intellectual Property of BiH recently introduced as a free service for small and medium-sized enterprises.

“I would like to emphasize that the protection of intellectual property rights is a key factor for encouraging innovation, development and progress in society. Creativity and innovation are the drivers of economic development and therefore we need to protect and encourage them. The importance of such seminars is reflected in the fact that they are one of the most important tools when it comes to raising awareness of the importance of intellectual property protection. Also, this is an opportunity for participants and the wider public to become more closely acquainted with the mentioned service, and among other things, with the possibilities it provides for considering future business through understanding the advantages gained by protecting intellectual property,” concluded Goran Trifković, expert advisor for industrial design at the Institute for Intellectual Property of BiH, who was also one of the lecturers.

Representatives of companies from the energy, ICT, metal industry, trade, business consulting, as well as the non-governmental sector attended the seminar.
