The metal and electrical sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina has for decades held the position of the most important sector of the economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although faced with numerous problems, companies in this field are recording expansion in their operations. The constant increase in the number of new companies speaks to the opportunities and potential available to them.

The development of the metal sector in recent years has been most evident in the defense and automotive industries, but the production of machines and metal parts is not lagging behind.

Foreign trade data indicate that products of the metal and electrical sector are represented in markets around the world. The backbone of the domestic economy consists of approx. 1,400 companies, with over 27,000 employees and a tendency of continuous growth.
