Errol Musk at a working meeting in the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Idea of establishing a multidisciplinary research institute in Bosnia and Herzegovina presented

Errol Musk, a 79-year-old businessman from the Republic of South Africa and father of billionaire Elon Musk, during his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 23 July 2025, visited the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he presented the idea, need and advantages of establishing an international and multidisciplinary institute in this area at a working meeting with the vice president of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH, Mirsad Jašarspahić.

Proud of the fact that the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH is recognized as a proactive and open institution of the business community in Bosnia and Herzegovina with strong connections to the academic and scientific community, the host of the meeting Mirsad Jašarspahić, B.Sc. Mech. Eng., vice president of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH, thanked him for the honor and opportunity and in a direct conversation presented the potentials and possibilities of the economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the undoubtedly exceptional human potential that our country possesses.

Mr. Musk briefly presented the idea of establishing a multidisciplinary institute for research in several attractive scientific fields, which in his opinion should be in a neutral location in terms of global movements, and the country that would be the base for such a scientific research structure would achieve a high degree of attractiveness for scientists and engineers as well as related institutes around the world.

The Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH was presented through the activities of established chamber sector associations and many projects implemented in cooperation with partner institutions at the national and international level. Due to the long-standing engineering experience of the distinguished guest and his enviable references in that field, special emphasis was placed on the established Engineering Chamber of the Federation of BiH within the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH, which would be the right choice for selecting experts for the institute under establishment according to the required profiles.

Pleasantly surprised by the achievements of individual business entities in global supply chains, the availability of goods, people’s behavior and their technological literacy, he emphasized that he had come to the desired destination, which also looks idyllic. He then stated that after the release of the first information about the future institute, he had received “dozens of applications” from around the world as offers for potential locations for it. By the plane on which the distinguished guests departed Bosnia and Herzegovina after the meeting, a new positive image of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a country of great human potential was also carried away.
