On 13/3/2024, the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH organized a meeting with representatives of financial institutions and leasing companies on the topic of joint cooperation and financing modalities for green transport.
The aim of the meeting was a joint discussion and modalities for more favorable financing of the purchase of environmentally friendly vehicles, with the aim of a more sustainable future, stronger development of electromobility in BiH, and ultimately reducing transport pollution.
Those present were welcomed and the discussion opened by the President of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH, Mr. Mirsad Jašarspahić. On this occasion, an overview of the work and activities of the Association for Electromobility was also given. During the discussion, special emphasis was placed on the recent subsidies of the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry for the purchase of electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles for legal entities and individuals, where the difficulty for applicants in applying to the call was highlighted due to the inability to use leasing and the impracticality of the call criteria with the criteria for using leasing.

All present expressed willingness and readiness for joint cooperation, through different financing models and the adaptation of those models, all with the aim of supporting clients on the path of financing the energy transition in BiH. In addition, the present representatives of financial institutions and leasing companies emphasized that they are aware of the importance of reducing transport pollution and achieving decarbonization goals, and that they themselves want to be an example to clients, partners and associates. In this sense, the activities of those present also included the procurement of an official fleet of electric vehicles, the development of a charging network, and others.
One of the key problems identified was transport pollution coming from taxi vehicles, which also spend most of their time in urban traffic. During the meeting, it was concluded that, following the example of EU and regional countries, and with the support of competent institutions, taxi vehicle electrification should be undertaken. The benefits would primarily be directed toward the wider community and the reduction of pollution, but also toward taxi drivers in terms of lower maintenance costs and the price of charging with electricity compared to fueling conventionally powered vehicles for the same mileage… BiH has an ideal terrain configuration for implementing this activity, but it is necessary to strengthen it by developing a charging network with an emphasis on installing so-called fast DC chargers.
In conclusion, the President of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH and colleagues welcomed the arrival of those present and their readiness for stronger joint cooperation among all actors, healthy competition, and especially readiness to adapt financing modalities in providing support and strengthening business entities in the green transition, and thereby BiH on the path to net zero emissions.
