The Kosovo government, led by Albin Kurti, has decided to unilaterally abolish the visa regime for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti shared part of his address on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Berlin Process on his Facebook profile.
Under point six, he stated that the Republic of Kosovo is unilaterally abolishing the visa regime for Bosnia and Herzegovina from January 1. It is further stated that citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to travel to Kosovo with personal documents from January 1, 2025. On the other hand, citizens of Kosovo will still have to respect Bosnia and Herzegovina’s visa policy toward Kosovo.
The existing visa regime of Bosnia and Herzegovina is conditioned by the veto of ruling politicians from the BiH entity Republika Srpska. The political leadership of this entity refuses to ratify the mobility agreement for free movement with an identity card.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only country in the region that does not have a visa-free regime with Kosovo.
Citizens of North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and Serbia travel to each other using only identity cards.
