After the welcoming and introductory remarks by representatives of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of BiH and the host company Jajce Alloy Wheels d.o.o. Jajce, and at the request of the companies that attended the previous GAI BiH meeting, a presentation was held on the topic of the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) and the emissions trading scheme (ETS). The presentations initiated a somewhat longer discussion, which ended with the conclusion that there is still much to discuss on these topics and that everything possible should be prepared to welcome the start of the application of taxation according to the above topics. It was also agreed that in the coming period meetings would be organized with representatives of the Government of the Federation of BiH and relevant ministries at the federal and state level, on these and other current topics that will contribute to a better understanding and solving of the challenges faced by companies from the automotive sector.
After that, representatives of Jajce Alloy Wheels d.o.o. Jajce gave a presentation of the company during which they briefly introduced us to its history, previous major investments, current production processes, implemented technologies and finally shared information about the latest and most important investment, i.e. a state-of-the-art facility covering an area of 5,500 m2.
The facility is fully automated and highly energy efficient with minimal environmental impact. There are currently 4 such facilities installed in the world, in Taiwan, Mexico, Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina (in Jajce). The realized investment is a chemical pre-treatment line 65 meters long, which by all characteristics ranks 2nd in the world in terms of size and capacity. The capacity of the entire company is around 800,000 produced rims of different dimensions and designs annually. Jajce Alloy Wheels is a 100% export-oriented company, currently has 239 employees and invests large funds in all segments of business every year. It should be especially emphasized that all products produced in the company are the work of the development and design department of Jajce Alloy Wheels d.o.o. Jajce.
After the presentation, a discussion was opened on current topics, challenges and opportunities faced by companies from the automotive sector. On that occasion, the lack of quality labor in the labor market was mentioned several times, and as one of the solutions, the need to adapt the education system to the needs of the labor market was mentioned. Also, greater investment in training on retraining and additional training of the currently available workforce in the labor market was proposed as a potential solution. The need for employers to adapt to current conditions and potentials in the labor market was also emphasized, as well as the selection of the best candidates for key positions in companies, who can adequately respond to challenges.
One of the topics mentioned at the second GAI BiH meeting is the need for increasing automation of production processes if competitiveness and quality in the market towards end customers are to be maintained.
After the working part of the meeting, a tour of the entire company was organized, during which all those present became acquainted with the processes and technologies, and also received answers to all their questions.
